1. (Material Noun-Neuter) One of a number of different species of medium-sized to large saltwater snails or their shells. True conchs are marine gastropod molluscs in the family Strombidae, and the genus Strombus; A wind instrument of great antiquity made from mollusk shells, much used in war and military exercises, and of great value in the orchestra.
