1. River(Proper Noun) a river in S Asia, flowing from S Tibet through NE India, particularly Assam and joining the Ganges River in Bangladesh. about 1700 miles or 2700 km long. This is the lifeline of the state of Assam.
Brahmaputra originates in the South Tibet Valley and Yarlung Tsangpo Canyon in Tibet, where it is known as Tsangpo Then it enters the Indian state Arunachal Pradesh, where it is known as Dihang or Siang. In the border of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, two other rivers, Dibong or Sikang and Lohit join the Dihang river and becomes Luit or Brahmaputra river.
